ACTIVITIES AND TOURS - to name but a few
Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve
With its breathtaking scenery, majestic mountains and tranquil waterfalls, this is a "must see it to believe it" experience. The main feature of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve is the Blyde River Canyon - an enormous gorge carved out of the face of the escarpment. This is the 3rd largest canyon in the world. The towering cliffs of the canyon create awe-inspiring waterfalls.
Also located within Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, are the well known Bourke's Luck Potholes. This series of deep cylindrical cavities were formed over thousands of years by swirling waters at the confluence of the Blyde and Treur Rivers. Another of the reserve's popular attractions is God's Window which provides visitors with one of Mpumalanga's most awesome views.
Kruger National Game Reserve
This is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,485 square kilometres (7,523 sq miles) in the provinces of Limpopo. It is a wildlife sanctuary like no other, its atmosphere so unique that it allows those who enter its vastness to immerse themselves in the unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa. View the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard. Elephant, Rhino & Buffalo) and an abundance of other critters and creatures in their natural habitat. This Historic Park is a must do on any visit to South Africa.
Elephant Interaction
At Adventures with Elephants, visitors can interact with the elephants in close, personal encounters. Learn more about their personalities, touching their hardy skin, and looking into their eyes is an experience that will never be forgotten. Keeping the animals healthy and stimulated is a priority at Adventures with Elephants. So, they have plenty of interaction with one another and their humans, and they get to roam the reserve, which covers an area of 300 hectares, at leisure.
Jessica the Hippo
Jessica is a 10year old female Hippopotamus who lives near Hoedspruit - South Africa. What makes Jessica so special and unique, is the fact that she's a wild animal that interacts with humans in a rather different way than nature has intended. When considering the natural behavior of the species, it is hard to establish whether Jessica considers herself as human or us humans as fellow hippos? Due to her behavior, Jessica has become somewhat of a worldwide phenomenon.
Canopy Tours and Abseiling Adventures
The Limpopo Province is a place of dense, verdant greenery, misty waterfalls that tumble to the ground in dramatic rumbles, and peaceful forests that are home to a huge variety of animal species. Suspended metres above the ground from comfortable, safe harnesses, you are able to glide above the beauty, seeing it from a new perspective that allows increased visibility and scope.
Abseiling is a method of descent from one point to another using one or more secured ropes in conjunction with a friction device. Abseil down a steep rock section and feel the adrenaline rush!
Horseback Safaris
Gone are the days of a safari simply meaning a game drive in a big open vehicle. These days you can live on the wild side and spot South Africa's wildest animals in their natural habitat on horseback. Experience the thrill of getting up close to animals in the untamed African bush, while enjoying the excitement of being on a horse's back.
The Big Swing
Experience the adrenaline of a 68 metre freefall at 180 km/h in under 3 seconds on one of the worlds highest Cable Gorge Swings! Or fly across the gorge on a 135 metre High-wire “Foefie Slide”, 130 metres above ground zero and witness breath-taking Graskop Falls as never seen before!
The African Bush Braai
This is a unique way of cooking all your food on an open fire in the middle of the bush. Let your tastebuds experience the sensation of traditional South African cuisine. You will never forget the smell of an open fire, mixed with the sent of spices and meat cooking on a braai while listening to the wonderful sounds of the surrounding bush.
